La Plagne catered ski chalets in Les Coches – Alpine365
Summer
Montchavin Les Coches will be open for the summer from June 2024 until September 2024. NEW – Read about all the new summer activities available this year!
Unlike many chalet companies in the area, we don’t simply pack up and leave as soon as the snow melts – we’re in Montchavin Les Coches 365 days a year!
In fact, the spring & summer seasons in the Alps are absolutely beautiful, with hillsides awash with mountain flowers and butterflies, temperatures reaching into the 30s, and the distant peaks still covered in snow. There’s a raft of activities to enjoy during the warmer months in La Plagne, Les Arcs and beyond, catering for those just wishing to soak up the sun through to adrenaline-junkies hankering after the more energetic sports.
In July & August, both Montchavin and Les Coches open up and are delightful places to be, with their cobbled streets, bars, restaurants, swimming pool and amazing views.

With some of the best road cycling on our doorstep, from May onwards when the passes (Cols) are open, the Alps are a dream – empty winding roads, Alpine villages, brilliant climbs and warm sunshine.
Many of the rides are accessible straight from our chalet including Cormet de Roseland, Col d’Iseran, Col du Petit St Bernard and much of Les Arcs & La Plagne.
Mountain Biking
The Paradiski area of Les Arcs and La Plagne combined give mountain bikers access to over 300kms of great trails – from hardcore downhill and single-track through forests, with serious jumps and skilled technical sections, to gentler XC routes for those times you don’t fancy taking on the mountain head-on. And all of it lift-assisted during the summer months, so most of your riding will be going with gravity rather than struggling against it.
Because we are located near the Vanoise Express, the cable car that connects La Plagne to Les Arcs, you are in a prime position to explore the entire area – all of it available on a range of passes – from individual pricing for a single uplift, to a full week’s pass for the entire, combined area of Paradiski.
We have a secure garage to store your bike, and we work with Evolution2, a local adventure outfit, who can rent out bikes and take you on guided rides, from beginner level to advanced.
Motorbiking
At Alpine365, we are definitely biker-friendly (Toorna spent 2 years overlanding to and from Australia on a Yamaha XT600E, and Duncan currently blips around the Alpine roads in the summer on a Kawasaki 650).
The French Alps are a biker’s paradise – exhilarating hairpins, great empty roads, beautiful mountain scenery. There are some fantastic rides nearby including the Col de L’Iseran, which is the highest paved mountain pass in the Alps, or you can take on the Col du Petit Bernard, the magnificent pass into Italy.
The chalets have secure, underground parking so your bikes will be safe at night.
Water Sports
Recognised as one of the most popular and challenging whitewater rafting destinations in France, the River Isere flows down from Val d’Isere right the way through the Tarentaise valley and Bourg St Maurice, so easily accessible from our chalet.
You can try your hand at a range of water sports including paddle boarding, canoeing, rafting, kayaking, canyoning and even freshwater swimming.
Working with Evolution2, our local adventure sports school, you can book trips out on the Isere River, complete with guides and wetsuits.
There’s a spa & pool complex in Montchavin. Called the l’Espace Paradisio, it has a big spa pool, outside and indoor pool, Turkish baths, a sauna, infrared therapy, a cold plunge pool, a jacuzzi, a play area for children and a health and beauty parlour. Or you can always have a dip in a freshwater swimming lake with a beach at Plan d’Eau or the outdoor Olympic swimming pool in Bourg St Maurice.

Take to the Skies
Imagine floating serenely into lush Alpine valleys in a tandem paraglider? Or having the thrill of your life in a Helicopter ride over a backdrop of snow capped mountains? These are just some of the great activities you can book to make your summer holiday even more memorable.
Parapenting (paragliding) is where you run off the side of the mountain with a parachute on your back. It’s exhilarating and a fantastic way to get a unique view of the mountains. If you want to take it one step further, you can even spend your holiday learning how to do it in a series of courses.
